Whiteside Router Bits are made in the USA.
The Whiteside facility is located in Claremont, NC.
Librawood distributes the Whiteside Router Bits because they are the best performing and the best value.
In their May/June 2007 issue, Fine Woodworking magazine tested 18 Cove & Bead router bits with 1/2" shanks. They made edge grain and end grain cuts on Knot Free Sugar Maple, Black Cherry, Red Oak and Eastern White Pine. Then they made edge grain cuts on Premium MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). Then to accelerate the wear on each bit, they ran them through 100 feet of Standard MDF (according to some experts and manufacturers that would equal at least 200 feet of hardwood).
Finally, they repeated the edge grain and end grain cuts on the wood and MDF.
After all that torture, they examined each strip they had cut and rated them for cut quality. Then averaged the scores for each bit.
The Whiteside Bit (Item # 3212) was awarded
"Author's Choice BEST OVERALL"
and
"Author's Choice BEST VALUE"
It's worth noting here that in the August 1999 issue of Fine Woodworking their test results on Straight Bits also had Whiteside rated as "the best bit".
